Since I had
school all this week, I thought I'd save up and compile a post summarizing the
adventures of "My French Life" for you all.
I already
posted about Monday's wonderful first day of school lessons; Tuesday was quite the same, a lot of French and a little
understanding (A bit of a shorter day, only 8 hours) Although I did have my
first science class with a very animated teacher who so graciously called upon
me... Nitrogen isn't Nitrogen in France (It's Arzote? ??). Thankfully,
Wednesdays are half days. That's right, instead of going to school for 8-10
hours, you're only there for 4 (which is extremely disheartening, considering
that's only two hours less than I would be in normal Canadian school). The half
day was a good thing, because that morning I completely lost all ideas of how
to speak and/or comprehend French. Agathe and I proceeded to spend the
afternoon doing an extremely satisfying heap of nothing (Well, we watched Dirty
Dancing in French and I am pleased to say that I loved it although I didn't
remember it in English or understand it in French... The music was good).
Thursday was a lagging day, mainly because Agathe was sick and so was her
friend, so it was filled with sniffling and drooping. Buuuut, in answer to the slow day, Agathe decided
school was a no-go today, so I got to stay home with her!! Which is extremely
good because their school schedules are whack and there would be no way for me
to understand that...
Anyway, for the next two weeks we get vacation! Because
their days are so long, and their classes so intensive, every other month, the
students get two weeks of vacation. Which means I get four weeks off while I'm here, one now, and one at
the end of April (*party balloons*).
For the
first week, Agathe’s family is taking me to the south of France! We’re going to
Nice, Cannes, and a little of Monaco. The seconds week will be dedicated to
touring Paris and surrounding area. I’m so excited. I promise to post lots of
pictures! Until next time :)
